Hope didn't mean to laugh, but she did. It was more of a scoff really as she shook her head. "Must be a case of that going around. The screwing over part, not the parenting a child part." Although she had had a close call herself. It still made her sad to think about it. She wanted children. She wanted a family. And the time for that just seemed to be ticking away. Pretty soon, she'd be far too old to even think about it. Of course now wasn't the time to be lingering on all of that.
"You're welcome." Hope nodded her head. "Both of you." She walked over to the table where she had most of her supplies for taking samples stored and then gestured towards the chair. "Have a seat. I'll just take a small sample and then I should be able to compare it to what I already have and..." She didn't finish the sentence, just offered him a reassuring smile instead.
"But, you know, no guarantees. It could be too early in her pregnancy for me to really be able to tell." And she had told Cissy the same exact thing though the girl seemed to insist that it would all work out just fine. And hopefully it would. She wouldn't want to imagine what this must feel like for either of them.
