The news was on the tv when Celia had cleaned up and returned to his living room, with Jonah clearing up his table. He could tell Celia was reluctant without even looking at her, so he just sighed, standing straight and - shrugged! - himself.
"Well - I'll tell you what," he began, thinking he might regret this but he'd say it regardless. "Stay here for breakfast. I was just about to make myself something anyway and you don't want the measley stuff the school serves. That won't be good for plus one. Then once we're done, we can go up together and find out today. Get it over and done with." He didn't want to seem like it was a chore he wanted to be over quickly but it was quite daunting. The prospect of being the father again. He'd already done this once he didn't know whether he could do it again, so it was best to know if he had to prepare himself.
