Who: Charlie and Davia When: Tuesday morning Where: their apartment What: a much needed talk
A disturbing trend was developing. Charlie had far too much on his mind. What happened to the good old days where his brain got some fucking rest from all this deep thinking bullshit via the aid of drugs and sex?
Everyday, it seemed like one new problem was added to the list. Today, it was Sydni being attacked by some moronic new vampire. Charlie understood bloodlust and all, but he'd never consciously attacked anyone. He realized now that the attack on Shizuka really had been an accident. Theodore, however, seemed fully aware of what he'd done. That son of a bitch was on a direct path to becoming just like Charlie's sire. It tempted Charlie to put the dude out of his misery before he turned into another homicidal lunatic.
But as distracting as this temptation was, Charlie couldn't be completely pulled away from the biggest of his problems. Davia. He had to tell her what was going on. The debate happening inside him was tearing him apart, and he knew she could tell. He didn't know what he was going to do, but he knew that any decision he made would have to come after he was totally honest about the situation.
Heading back to the apartment after his shift ended, he was glad that Maggie was already with her tutor, because this was most definitely an adults-only conversation. He couldn't risk Maggie hearing any of what he was about to say. He still wasn't sure what he would tell his most favorite person in the world if things did end between him and Davia. Maggie would be heartbroken.
He softly shut the door behind him when he arrived and called out, "Davia?" The nervousness was already audible in his voice.
