His smile and gentle kiss sent a warm tingle throughout her body. He managed to make her soften up slightly, but she still couldn't smile full on. Even now when she was so upset, he still knew the right things to do and say to make her feel better. There was so much good in him.. why couldn't Ed see that?
Kim nodded slightly, agreeing with his statements. "You're definitely not a fuck up. I would never go down that road again." She certainly wouldn't have gone into a relationship with him if there was even the slightest chance that he was the fuck up that Ed made him out to be. She wouldn't be able to handle another relationship like that. It was what had kept her from though whole relationship train of thought for the past year, but Starbuck was an entirely different person than her cheating ex. She trusted him so much that it scared her sometimes.. like now.
"Maybe just.. one thing.." she said tentatively. She was definitely tiptoeing around it because she was so scared. Scared of assuming the wrong thing.. hell, even scared of assuming the right thing just because it was so intense of an emotion and she had never felt it before. Her breath caught in her throat as he went on explaning what he meant and she knew what he was about to say. Her heart didn't slow down at all as he opened up his eyes and spoke those words. He really did love her. Ed hadn't just slipped up and said it. It was true and deep down, she knew that those words weren't a lie this time.
Her heart was filled up with so much emotion right now that she felt like it might burst. Her brows scrunched up together and she felt her throat tighten up completely as she offered him a shaky smile. She wanted to say those words back to him so badly because she did love him, but it was tough for her to do. Lifting a hand up to his face, she tried to breath deeply to calm herself down although a single tear ran down her cheek. She was shaking a little now, but she didn't want him to freak out and think she didn't reciprocate his feelings.. she was just having a tough time saying those words. It was a pretty big step for her, for them, after all.
