"Yeah," she offered as she nodded slightly. Starbuck seemed to have so much working against him right now what with Kim telling him about Xander and then the shitty situation with Ed. Add being away from natural bodies of water and it was no wonder that he lashed out at Ed and the punching bag like he did.
When his hand covered hers, she looked down at it as a little bit of warmth started to radiate through her body again. Looking back up at him, she tried to smile, but she just couldn't. All he got was a half-hearted lift of one of the corners of her mouth.
"Don't tell me it isn't a big deal," she said, speaking a little more like normal now. It was inevitable that she was going to be stressing over this right now. It would take some time for her to brush it off, but she would make herself do it. She wasn't gonna let Ed ruin her happiness. He'd just have to suck it up and deal because she wasn't leaving Starbuck. Her heart skipped a tiny beat when he said he'd do anything for her. She spoke quietly again, her voice taking on a bit of the shaky quality it had before. "I am happy," she admitted. "I'm happy when I'm with you."
