He nodded in understanding. "I know the feeling. I wanted to go swimming really bad, but it's too damn cold outside, even for me... and you know how much I hate chlorine." Winter was proving to be really hard on Starbuck. He was grateful for the trip home at Thanksgiving, because it had helped reenergize him. He wasn't coping all that well without a natural body of water to enjoy. The bathtub was about as good as it got these days.
Starbuck put his hand over Kim's, attempting to give it a little squeeze, but sorta failing since only a few fingers could grasp hers. "You turned out just fine the way you are. If he had a hand in that, then... he's got my thanks." Starbuck smiled at her.
Shrugging, Starbuck offered a dismissive, "It's no big deal." That was a lie, but he didn't want her stressing over it. It was bad enough that Ed was pissed over the situation, Starbuck didn't want to make things worse. "Besides... I'd do anything for you... including putting up with his bullshit. I just want you to be happy. 'Cause I'm happy when you are."
