Starbuck didn't give a shit about the car. Kim could have totaled it, and he would have been perfectly happy so long as she was safe and sound. Objects were just that... objects. He only cared about the people in his life, and he was relieved that Kim was still part of his life. She was right here... with him!
He didn't want to let her go. It felt too good to hold her again. But he finally managed to pull back so he could look at her. He could see that she was shaken. Starbuck reached up, intending to tuck her hair behind her ears, but the splints on his fingers got in the way.
"You have every right to blame me. I blame me. I was out of line in what I said. I shouldn't have said anything at all." He should have just ignored Ed and let Kim deal with the situation, because it was her family, not his.
"Can you come in?" he asked, hopeful she would. He had more apologizing to do! Plus, he really just wanted to hold her some more. And, maybe, just maybe, he'd tell her something else of great importance... maybe.
