Kim had had a horrible night last night. When she drove away from Luke's house in Salem, she had burst into tears, unable to hold back any of the pain she was feeling anymore. She had hoped to be able to talk some sense into Ed, but she could see now that it was just wishful thinking. If Ed was ever gonna come around about her relationship with Starbuck, it was gonna take a long time.
After she got to the school and parked Starbuck's car, she just sat there for a while, crying until she could calm herself down enough to walk inside. She didn't want anyone seeing her like this. Once she composed herself enough, she walked to the guys' wing and stopped short of Starbuck's door when she heard him on the other side. She couldn't talk to him then, she wasn't ready for it so she knocked on Vinnie's door and left the car keys with him.
She was thankful when she got back to her room because Frankie wasn't there. She was staying at Starbuck's to help take care of Kamea since he had broken some fingers. Kim felt even worse now that she had caused him to hurt himself. Curling up into her bed, she tried to sleep, but when she finally did fall asleep, it was only to be woken up a few hours later by a nightmare of Starbuck and Ed fighting. Her night continued on in the same manner, so that when it was time for her to get up in the morning, she had barely gotten any sleep.
Going to classes on Monday was difficult because she couldn't focus at all. All she could think of was how much she was hurting. She hadn't resolved anything with Ed, but she wasn't upset with Starbuck anymore. While talking with Lauren yesterday, she had realized just how much she cared about him. Something Ed had said about love was still revolving around in her mind and she knew that she had to talk to Starbuck as soon as she could. She couldn't miss any of her academic classes, but when it came time for football at night, she skipped it. She had to talk to him and it couldn't wait any longer.
Kim got to his door and paced around for a bit, nervous about getting to talk to him. What if he was upset with her now? It was entirely possible. She hadn't talked to him since yesterday, caused him to break his fingers and took his car without asking him. In her mind, he had every right to be upset with her. She felt like she was about to hyperventilate at how fast and shallowly she was breathing. After forcing herself to take one last deep breath, she knocked on his door, scared out of her mind. Her throat had dried up so even if she could've spoken, Starbuck didn't give her a chance to. His arms were around her in an instant and she wrapped her own around his waist. She felt a lump start to form in her throat as he apologized and she just shut her eyes tightly, resting her chin his shoulder. "It's ok. I don't blame you," she managed to say a little shakily. She didn't know why she was still hurting, but at least the pain felt a little less now with him holding her again.
