It was really nice to see Fenrir getting along with Karishma. Weeks ago, she wouldn't have let the man near children, he seemed far too harsh for that. But she could see now that he had a soft side. He allowed Karishma to climb all over him and eventually flop down on his chest, her arms and legs sprawled out, her cheek flat as she looked over at her mother. Heather smiled at her.
"I hope you won't think of this world as being in 'darkness'. There's a lot more life left in you, Fenrir. Try to ease up on the brawling," she said in a slightly teasing tone.
Heather couldn't help but smile broadly back at Fenrir. "I'm sure it's like riding a bike.. you never really forget how, just maybe get a little rusty if you don't practice often enough. You'll be making friends left and right before ya know it. But for now, I think you need more rest." She held her arms out to Karishma, "Come on, sweetie. Fenrir needs to sleep and so do you." Heather noticed the little girl starting to rub her eyes, a telltale sign that it was time for bed.
After pulling Karishma up into her arms, Heather looked back down at Fenrir. "If you're feeling better by Thursday, why don't you join me and Karishma for Thanksgiving dinner. My brother may or may not be there... it's hard telling with him... but it'd be great if you came."
