(aka: James and Lily Randomly Get Married) Precursor Logs: James asks Greta for marriage advice James asks Lily to marry him James and Lily decide to get married on Friday Lily asks Alice for use of her house, and to give her away Alice gives Lily her veil Guests arrived at the Longbottom's house where they were greeted either by Alice or Lily. The table was set with whatever dishes Alice had available and everything was pretty low key. Except for Lily wearing a slightly too fancy dress, but if asked she'd have laughed that off and asked how she looked before conveniently finding something else to do. Once everyone was there and seated and ready to eat Lily would have - kind of awkwardly - stood up. "Just one thing before we eat. James and I were talking the other day, about plans and trying to to do so when everything is crazy like this, and we thought... 'well, why?' and decided that... well... we wanted to get married. Tonight, actually. So... thank you for coming. And if you don't mind I'm going to go put my veil on and I'm sure Caradoc will make this as quick as possible and then we can all eat. Thanks!" And with that Lily handed Marlene a red daisy she'd transfigured from a twig that had been in the kitchen and ran off to Frank and Alice's room to put her veil on, leaving James to deal with all the questions and the "wait what?" looks. Lily wore a white dress she bought while shopping with Alice that was chosen for it's very not-wedding look, Alice's veil, and carried two white daisies (also transfigured from twigs). James replaced the ring he'd given her with a new ring he bought that was actually an engagement ring and not just something pretty he'd bought before he decided to propose. When Caradoc asked who gave this woman to this man, Alice stepped up and handed Lily off to James. Alice strong armed James before the dinner into one of Frank's jackets because James doesn't own things like that that he'll admit to. But he didn't wear a tie! And he got away with trainers! Lily had transfigured him a boutonniere from some leaves and that was also in the kitchen for him to grab before she walked out. She gave James her father's wedding band that she'd found among her mother's possessions last year. Hot and Sour soup, Wonton soup, Egg Rolls, Crab Rangoon Pork Fried Rice, Beef Lo Mein, Shrimp Egg Foo Yong, General Tsao's Chicken, Moo Goo Gai Pan, Sweet and Sour Chicken, Fortune Cookies, Greta Cake After the ceremony Lily declared dinner could be served and all the steaming boxes of takeaway were brought out of the kitchen while she went to take Alice's veil off because she was super paranoid of ripping it or spilling things on it. After dinner everyone was given a fortune cookie with the typical takeout fortunes on it. And then the cake Greta made came out and Lily honestly had no idea about Alice's aversion to butterflies. Whoops? So she made James cut the first piece with her and smeared a bit of it on his nose, then quickly cut up slices for everyone else. At the end of the night she 'threw her bouquet' and by 'throw her bouquet' she means 'not so subtly chucked it at Marlene.' Leftovers were not handed out and instead packed up for Alice and Frank because they love Chinese takeout and let their house be used. The cake, however, Lily took with her and put preservation charms on the top tier to freeze at Caradoc's. You have to keep some traditions after all. |
