For once, Penny was trying really hard to resist the urge to write to Dax to see him. While it was nice being able to still spend time with him, there was a part of her that was still afraid after Audrey’s warning. Everything she’d been told seemed so logical, so well put together that it made Penny really frightened of what would happen in the future. As much as she wanted to believe that she wouldn’t get caught with him, she couldn’t get it from her mind. Audrey had said she’d make an amazing hostage. That Dax would come for her and she was right. Dax had told Penny as much. So, despite her desire to see her boyfriend, Penny decided maybe this once (or for at least a little while) it was a better idea to do something by herself. She considered going to the Puddlemere game but knew that going would mean seeing Oliver Wood and obviously Puddlemere which would only remind her of Dax and make that worse. Instead, Penny chose to go see the Arrows and the Harpies, knowing that, that promised to be quite the game. It also helped that this was a special weekend, it gave Penny plenty to do. Midway through the match, Penny started down the tower stairs in order to go to the concessions, she’d skipped lunch and some food sounded like a good idea. As she headed down the tower, she swore she heard something from the inside which seemed wrong. No one was allowed inside the inner workings of the towers, right? Well, workers, she supposed but why would workers be working on the towers while there were people in them? Wasn’t that a huge risk? That didn’t make any sense to her, it actually brought her to a pause. Penny listened as she stopped but heard nothing else, and honestly, with the roar of the crowd behind her….maybe, she’d heard something? Merlin knew enough people used charms to fix their voices so people could hear them better. She imagined it was something a bit like that so brushing it off, she continued down the steps, only pausing again, just briefly to let a group pass her. That was when it happened. Penny felt the staircase against the tower shake, forcing her to grab the railing as she felt herself thrown forward. Her fingers slipped and Penny went tumbling down the staircase. There was certainly nothing like having the wind knocked out of you repeatedly as your head and ribs bounced off the stairs. She hit a landing, and Penny’s world still spun, pain rushing through everything as she tried to force herself to stand. Judging by the pain she was in, she was bruised everywhere, her chest hurt - broken ribs maybe? And, she could feel blood dripping from her head where she'd cracked it against the stairs. She could walk that off. Right? She could go see a medi-witch right? That was Penny’s last conscious thought as the platform she stood on gave way as the tower collapsed, Penny falling to the ground – fortunately not a long fall, as debris landed around and on top of her. |
