Europa had held lots of secrets during her life. In all honesty, it would probably take less time to make a list of the things she did keep secret or lie about than to compile a comprehensive one of all the things she'd ever pretended about over the years. And the list of people she hadn't lied to or kept things from was even shorter: There was not a single person alive Europa had never kept a secret from. Oh sure, some people were lied to less than others, just as some people in her life had no idea who she really was deep down. Even the love of her life was not immune to her secrets, and though she would claim until the day she died that the secrets she kept from him were for his own protection, that was not always the case. Sometimes they were for her protection--from society, not because she had anything to fear from Cepheus himself. She knew she didn't. But she also knew him, and this particular secret had been best kept from everyone until it could no longer be used against her. Now, it was still a slight possibility that harm could come to her over this particular secret, but Europa was tired, and she needed to share this one with Cepheus. It was time, and the chances of it being used against her were much slimmer now. Leaving Priya with her nanny at her parents' where they had been staying since everything had happened, Europa made the very familiar journey to Cepheus' home. He wouldn't be home just yet, so she went to his room to wait. Feeling fatigued, she decided to lie down until he got there. |
