Cole stood, his hand holding the ties attached to an eagle owl’s talons as he gently stroked his feathers, his gaze looking over the creature. It was probably the most affection he’d shown anything in some time. But he had his reasons and certainly the animal had a purpose. Sasha was coming and this was where he chose to meet her. While it was fairly empty at the moment, it still had people milling around sending owls, collecting their owl to send post or feeding them. It wasn’t necessarily a common ‘meeting’ area but again it was fairly empty especially right after the lunch hour when most people were supposed to be working. It was why he chose it. Was he supposed to be working? In theory but Cole was very good at his job. There was a reason that he got away with a lot of the things he did. He couldn’t tell anymore how many complaints Bellatrix Lestrange brushed off or made disappear because he got results and did the job. It wasn’t necessarily that she liked him, he was just useful, and he knew as long as he remained useful and got the job done, stretching things a bit – like he was now, could go overlooked. Especially since he’d made quite the impression on Pettigrew in her name. He turned as he heard the clock chime above them and looked back down at the owl in his grasp. Sasha should be there any moment and he was looking forward to this. Cole was at best a terrible husband and at worst dangerous, but he was also not willing to let her go. It had taken him a long time to mold her into what he wanted, and he was not about to let her family take her away from him. Not for anything or anyone. So, the Bones family wanted to get involved? He knew they were hiding her, wherever she was within their little network. It was a matter of time before he lured her back. He just had to be careful, strategic about it. But he was going to win her back one way or another. However, that would take time and he could, at least for awhile, be patient. For the moment he was content to stand there, calmly and passively offering affection to his owl. |
