Things between Sera and Greg had gone from promising to once again that awkward situation they’d been in before. It wasn’t that Sera was actively avoiding him, okay well maybe she was but only a little. But things had taken an odd turn after their night together and their heart to heart. She thought he’d wanted to be with her, although she understood the need for secrecy. As much as she’d like to think they were beyond that nonsense in 2005, she knew she wasn’t that lucky. Progress was a pure blood marrying below themselves in social rank. It wasn’t a half-blood knight of no actual worth with a pure blood noble.
Still, she was willing to at least try. She did love Greg, that hadn’t been a lie. It wasn’t supposed to be an emotion she felt, she was supposed to just want to shag him and move on. When did feelings get involved? But they had and the two of them were left – well where were they left? Last Sera saw, Greg was trying to have himself beaten up by a fellow knight and acting like an idiot over the slight chance she might be pregnant.
No, honestly Sera did not want to be pregnant. Hell, she’d done everything during her original time with him to avoid it. She took potions, charmed him, charmed her. She did everything apart from actually being abstinent to prevent it. She could have tried abstinence, but Greg was a really good shag and the risk had been worth it at the time. Hell, even this time the risk had been worth it. She just hadn’t been on potions since she stepped back from seeing him and hadn’t had a reason to restart them until now.
Then of course Sirius Black decided to be insane and come to the palace. She hadn’t been on duty in that part of the palace that night, but she’d heard about it. She was over in the Royal Gallery trying to stay awake. She always had the most boring shifts at night. Too bad whoever was on guard there let him escape, it might have been worth it to see him captured and see what happened to him. Although they all knew what that was, didn’t they? He was a wanted man for a reason.
“Thank you,” Sera said as she grabbed her cup of coffee from the Kitchen staff member. She was finally done with her shift for the day but had decided to visit the kitchens for a cup of coffee. Decaf, calm the nerves a bit without causing her to wake herself up more. Night shifts were going to be the death of her, especially right now when they were on high alert and dealing with Aurors coming into their territory. Shouldn’t they be out arresting him rather than trying to take over the Knight’s jobs?
Turning, Sera headed from the kitchens and started back for her quarters. She was almost back when she stopped seeing Greg standing outside her door. “Bored of Malfoy again, already?” Sera called out letting him know she was there a small smile forming on her lips. “What brought you here Greggy?”
