The way Europa saw it, it didn't matter who Priya's biological father was, because Priya belonged to her. Neither of the men it could be really acted like her father, and maybe that was just as much Europa's fault with Cepheus as it was Parmesh's fault with himself, but the fact of the matter was that she didn't belong to either of them. She wasn't Parmesh's daughter and she wasn't Cepheus' daughter. She was Europa's daughter. She was the one who got up in the middle of the night, the one who tucked her in and checked for monsters in the closet. She was the one who knew how she liked to wear her hair and which shoes were her favorite this week.
But this baby would belong to Cepheus, Europa could see that. Maybe he would love them all like his own anyway, but knowing for sure that he was the father of this baby would absolutely change things. Regardless of what happened with Parmesh, Cepheus would want to be involved. He would want to know this child, and have it know him as his or her father. And Europa didn't know if that made things better or worse. All she knew was that Parmesh, if he for some reason didn't get rid of her, would never tolerate it.
