Michael hadn't really been too aware of what was happening when Anthony and Susan freed him from the hospital wing on Thursday. Life in the Room of Requirement was much different either. He tried to sleep through most of it, not wanting to have to look or even interact with the people he betrayed because they were all here now. Neville. Seamus. Parvati. Lavender and even Anthony who was trying to help him. The problem was that Madame Pomfrey wasn't even suited to handle the extent of Michael's injuries, and really Anthony couldn't do much more either. He was stable in that the combination of the spells used were barely still rippling through his body. It meant that any time his body was able to heal itself, little fractures in his bones happened again and again. At least now those fractures were more on the level of stress fractures or growing pains. It left him weak and annoyed by the cycles of pain as his body was unable to heal itself. All they could really do was keep treating the pain, manage his stress and allow his body to heal on his own, the slower muggle way. Michael believed that he deserved the pain, every second of it for what he did. Hell, Anthony and Susan shouldn't have even taken the risk to break him out. Not that he wanted to be stuck there, but it was better for him to take it rather than have more of his friends and family become targets in his absence. If there had been anything in his stomach he would have lost it when word came that Susan had been tortured at dinner for helping him escape. He didn't want it, didn't want to have anyone else hurt because of him. Some hero turned out to be. And gosh, that meant it was a given that Kat was going to be next, then Terry, Molly, Demelza, probably Nathan too - anyone he was friends with or who might have helped him. "Why didn't they all just run?" Not that life in here was much better, but it was certainly worse out there. |
