Oliver was getting ready for a late-morning practice -- the team had insisted on it given the rigorous workout yesterday. He had just put his flying gloves on when he saw their manager, Philbert Deverill, standing in the doorway, motioning for a chat.
Wood rolled his eyes as he approached the man, "Honestly, PD. This couldn't have waited. Do you know how hard it was for me to get these buggers here this early?" He emphasized the last two words as to suggest a great deal of sarcasm. "What is it?" He looked at the usually stone-cold face that now bore a great deal of sympathy.
"There was a firecall for you, this message was left," Deverill thrust the note into Oliver's hands.
"I..." he started, after reading the note several times, "have to go." Oliver didn't even take time to tell his team what was going on. He headed straight for the nearest Floo-connected fireplace.
As soon as Oliver got there, he started an all out run for the Dae Llewellyn wards. As soon as he got there, he asked for Penelope.
"Um," started the witch.
"WHERE IS SHE!" roared Oliver in response.
"In the emergency ward," grunted the witch in response, she was not easily intimidated.
"Fuck me!" He chimed as it instantly dawned on him he was in a very wrong place. As he turned around to run toward the emergency wards, Oliver caught the glance of a patient who was obviously thinking 'I will!'.
"So fuckin stupid," Oliver verbally chastised himself as he went along the corridors. "Why didn't I just stop and ask for help? Bloody Scots stubborness."
He came to a screeching halt as he reached the doorway of the room holding Penelope. The view of his motionless friend crowded out all else from his perception. As he stood there, his eyes filled with water, and he felt the trial-hardened skin of a witch who could only be Penelope's mother.
