"You mean you're not after my heart?" Mac asked, feigning disappointment. "I don't know how I'll ever live with myself now." He grinned to show he was just having fun, and moved marginally closer as they walked towards the back of the store where the cash register was. "I'd adore an invitation, and I'm sure I can drag along a few of my teammates. Anything to help charity of course."
He arched a brow at that suggestion. "Now there's an idea I can get behind," he said. "But only if you promise to save me if it looks like I'm going to end up with a lecherous old woman." He batted his eyelashes playfully. "Please say you'll be my knight in shining armor."
He wrapped an arm around her shoulder once she'd given in to his buying her magazines, pleased with himself and her. "I never take no for an answer, at least not when it comes to drinks," he said cheerfully, confident that he'd won this little round of flirting. "So, what do you say? Going to save me from begging?"
