“Do you prefer taking on another form, then, or do you just feel more comfortable around animals?” It was one thing to want to spend time as a creature and another one all together to just like to be around them. Either way, she could see how it would be easier to be sucked in to the natural world, to be pulled away from humans – especially ones who were unlike you. It was the same way for elementals: it was far too easy for them to be sucked into the world around them, to forget that there was another, separate world that required them to interact with humans, to go to work, to pay bills, etc… “Well until then, you’re welcome to come over and borrow Charlie if you need a bit of animal interaction,” she assured him with a smile, laughing as the little pup gave a sharp bark as if he knew they were talking about him. “I think I’ve had my fill of drama for a lifetime,” Eden admitted, “I’ll never understand the people that thrive on it.” It seemed like everyone knew someone that always had some trauma, some tragedy going on in their life that they wanted to make sure anyone and everyone they came across was aware of. She just wasn’t the type. Thankfully, neither was Jaida, which meant that going to work had been one of the few places lately that things seemed almost normal. The muse was carrying on business as usual, though a little more carefully, in spite of everything going on around them.
“Oh I bet, I’m sure its bloody amazing.” How could it not be? Flying was something most humans dreamed of being able to go do and never, ever would. “If you’re hurt in another form, I assume it carries over with you when you shift back?” That could make certain adventures a bit risky. “You’re welcome.” She’d meant the compliment, really – it was always a shame to see someone with a gift that they didn’t really know how to use. Supernaturals always seemed so much happier, so much more at peace, when they came to terms with their abilities, when they leaned all there was to know and managed to master at least some of that. “It looks bloody painful. There are so many weres around the mansion where my boss lives that the place runs out of ice after every full moon. You feel sorry for them all hobbling about, all in pain from transforming.” She couldn’t imagine if she’d be able to handle that every month, time after time, knowing how much it was going to hurt. Not that there was anything you could do to prevent it. “It was a clever trick, but I can’t imagine your mum being too happy with you,” she laughed softly, leaning over to tap the ashes from her cigarette, “You seem like you were a bit of an ornery one when you were little.” Ian just looked like he’d been adventurous, energetic, the exact combination of things that made for a sweet but troublemaking little boy. “No, they’re not, they’re really not. I might have heard them before, but never from someone that actually made them sound sincere.” He didn’t come off as sleazy, not in the slightest. “I’m relatively sure that I do but, like I said I could be mistaken. I did take a bit of a bump to the head.” She couldn’t help but smile as she watched him stand, moving over to take a seat on the side of her chair, his finger sliding under the curve of her chin to guide her face up towards him. Eden made sure to set her wine aside as she leaned up slightly, closing some of the distance between them to meet him halfway, pressing her lips to his in a slow kiss. After a moment, Eden let her lips part to deepen their kiss, both of them tasting of wine and the slightly smoky taste of his cigarettes, a bit of that warm spice from dinner.
