“I’ve been to a few, but never one that’s done more than just baked goods.” The bakeries had seemed like the perfect way to combine a good time with her love for all things sweet. Besides, it was Amsterdam, you couldn’t not go out and sample a bit of what the place was famous for. “Are you trying to get me stoned now?” she accused teasingly, as if that was just the most scandalous invitation she’d had in awhile, “Honestly though, it does sound like fun. I’d be interested to see what all a few chefs can come up with.” And she’d have to agree, it would certainly make for an interesting date later on. Then, because she couldn’t resist giving him a bit of a hard time, Eden glanced over at him, “Did you just ask me on a date, then? Or…a second date? I suppose I haven’t really figured out if this is a date yet or not.” In her mind, she’d just assumed that it was, but good things so rarely came from assuming. Did he honestly thing it was just her way of saying thank you? The more they talked, Eden couldn’t help but want it to be more than just a meal out of gratitude.
“It’s quite dull, actually,” she admitted with a laugh, “I mean, he finds it quite interesting, obviously, but to hear him talk about it is almost enough to put you to sleep.” It had nearly done just that to her a number of times when her father had gone off on a tangent about some ‘exciting’ new project he was working on. “He does, actually, he does all sorts of splicing and gene-crossing, trying to see what new plants he can come up with. He’s been working for years on something that’s supposed to help with pain in cancer patients – apparently he’s quite close to figuring it all out.” It was really a noble way to use the gift he’d been born with, Eden sometimes wished that she felt that same pull herself. “No, it’s fine,” she assured him with a laugh, “I’m a personal assistant, actually. My boss is a vampire…and a muse, to boot. She’s the partner of the woman who runs Visigoth.” Sometimes mentioning Vivian and her company could put people off, sometimes it wasn’t a positive thing, but Eden didn’t want to keep anything from Ian, not in these early ‘getting to know you’ phases. “She’s really quite a character and it’s hardly ever dull… And with all this business lately with supernaturals being attacked, she’s become a bit concerned with me living all the way out here away from the rest of them. I spoke with her yesterday and she’s planning to send a guard out to monitor my flat, just in case.” She hadn’t mentioned the alleyway incident to Jaida, but she hadn’t needed to – the danger was close enough to home to have her worried. “It was actually at a Visigoth party that Juniper and I, Vivian’s assistant, met Pruflas. He’s completely creepy, truly, he gave me a bit of the heebie jeebies.” Both women hadn’t been able to get away from the demon quickly enough. The look on his face when she put him on the spot was enough to have Eden laughing amusedly, “Then you won’t be offended if I ask you not to cook for me?” He wasn’t exactly giving her much faith in his abilities. “Perhaps I could do the cooking and…maybe teach you a thing or two? It’s really not all that difficult once you learn.” And it was always easier with someone there to show you, give you those little tips and tricks that could make all the difference. “What do you do for fun, then? I know you ride your motorcycle, but I’m sure there’s more to you than that.” She could guess that a medical career didn’t leave him a ton of free time, but there had to be something he enjoyed doing when he could have a moment or two of downtime.
