Thankfully, the arrival of the doctor quieted any response she would have had to give, her time taken up for now by the careful examination of her head. At least it the prognosis was nothing more than a killer headache and a bit of bump – she could handle both of those. “Right, thank you, doctor.” Once she was gone, Eden turned an amused smile on Ian, “Was that your brilliant plot to see me again?” She was only joking, but honestly…she didn’t mind. “I will, though, take you to dinner sometime.”
“Don’t listen to me, I don’t know what I’m going on about,” he waved off the all-too-serious nature of their conversation, chuckling lightly to try and ease the mood. Callum was too busy trying to figure things out inside his own head, he wasn’t anywhere near ready to actually start discussing it out loud. Especially not with someone who knew him as well as Juniper did, who could so easily see through any of the usual bullshit he might try. It wasn’t so much a load of crap this time as a genuine uncertainty on his part. He really didn’t know what the fuck was going on with himself. “Wow…I…I guess I never really had any fucking idea what it was like when…when you changed.” But looking at her now, hearing that tone in her voice when she was describing the sight of her hands bleeding…..it sort of knocked things into perspective. “Fucking hell…I’ll bet it hurts like a bitch, yeah? I always kind of guessed that it did. And you were always so careful when we were together, when it was getting close to the full moon… It used to frustrate the hell out of me, I just wanted to fucking help you and there wasn’t anything I could do.” And anything he tried to do could have ended up with him getting inadvertently gutted. It would have sucked for him, but Cal really hadn’t wanted Juniper to have to deal with something like that so he settled for listening to her fucking warnings. “Alright, alright, you’ve sold me,” Cal chuckled lightly, running a hand through his hair, “you’ve fucking convinced me. I’ll come and see your show. Just let me know when, yeah?” Whatever show she could get him tickets to, he’d make work. “That’s what I hear…I’ve seen Eden a few times but I didn’t really want to ask whether Shan fucked her about or not. Seemed like salt in the wound and all.” He’d thought his brother had had genuine feelings for the elemental, but who knew what Shannon felt anymore. Juniper’s offer took Cal by surprise and it was written across his features, “Yeah…uh…yeah, I’ll think about it…”
