When it suited her, Jun was capable of being selfish, but for the most part, the situations were of small matters, nothing grand, nothing that would put a person out. The two didn't know each other well enough, so, she couldn't see to gain anything from Marcus, other than a friendship. It wasn't always easy to be friendly with other weres, especially when their animal nature was different from your own. They all tended to be a little territorial, it took time to come into their good graces. They had met in a very interesting way, and it had caused this tentative friendship to spring to life. Even if they weren't going to be the sort of friends who saw one another often, it never hurt to have just one more person in your corner, who you knew wouldn't be placing themselves there, only because it suited them, and their needs to do so. What did Juniper have to offer Marcus, aside from a partner to have lunch with?
"Oh I'm not either, trust me, but I guess I'll learn as I go." It was something she felt strongly about, this was going to be her family, and she was going to try her best at not completely fucking it up. "Thank you, that's nice of you to say." Most of her friends were going to offer advice, and well wishes. Not all were going to actually be completely honest with her, and bring up those points that might be seen as touchy subjects. Jun wasn't shy about talking about them, as so many people were, but they were still hard to actually consider sometimes, because you really had to look at the entire picture, and how things might turn out, and how they might not. "Moral beliefs? Aren't those subjective?" Not everyone followed the same creed, even within a family. "Your parents were wrong... if you don't mind me being blunt. But you raise a kid, a person, you shouldn't expect them to turn out just like you, and you sure as hell shouldn't sever ties with them, just because they aren't the spitting image, behavior, or whatever. That's not right, in my opinion. As far as I can tell, you're a decent man, I haven't seen otherwise." Jun thought she was a fairly good judge of character, but she was also forgiving at times.
"Cal is far from perfect, he hasn't been picture perfect at all. He's been in jail, he's had drug problems, his moral fiber could be called into question... my own boss told me I was an idiot for having a kid with someone like him, and from the outside I would probably agree. I can't hold his past against him, I just have to go off of how he treats me, and he treats me good. If that changes, or he's not a good dad, I'll take care of my own." Anyone who knew her, saw how protective she could be of those she loved, knew that she could be vicious when need be. The conversation turned back to their meal so quickly, that she had to take a moment to hurriedly look over the menu, "Oh... um, tenderloin rare, please. Vegetables, bread, whatever, give it all."
Reaching for her glass, she took a long sip, before setting it back down on the table. "Okay, now that I've talked about myself way too much, let's discuss all of your juicy gossip. You said you were married. Are you still?"
