“Oh yes, I’ve exposed our greatest secret,” Eden joked with a laugh – now that everything was out in the open between the two of them, and he’d accepted it so well, it was nearly impossible to wipe the smile from her face. Initially she’d been so eaten up by panic that she hadn’t even considered how, outside of all that worry, she felt about being pregnant, about becoming a mother in a few months. It wasn’t so odd really, not that far fetched, once she really stopped and thought about it; she’d always been fond of other’s people children, she hadn’t had any sort of traumatizing experiences in her youth…how bad could it really be? And, if she did manage to cock things up, she wasn’t in this alone. “I haven’t even met them and now you’ll be phoning to tell them we’re expecting. Did you mention your taste in floozies to them?” she grinned, “I’ll have to make a call as well. My parents will be…thrilled, I’d imagine.” Though she was lucky, they tended to be overjoyed with just about anything she did; it wouldn’t be that surprising if this was enough to have them flying out for a visit as well. “I…will your doctor friend be able to tell us anything about that?” Whatever it was that made someone an elemental had always been passed down through her genetics and she imagine his shape-shifting was the same way. So what did that mean for a combination of the two? Would one ability cancel the other out?
Being direct wasn’t always the most tactful way to go, but it always got the job done with minimal confusion. Besides, she hadn’t wanted to lose her nerve or wait for a way out to present itself. None of it really mattered now, not when he seemed absolutely thrilled. “As soon as possible would probably be best…just to make sure everything’s alright.” Eden didn’t really know all that much about pregnancy at all, let alone the supernatural kind. What if it was drastically different? They’d be lucky to have someone who had a wider knowledge base than the two of them around to answer questions. “Oh Christ, this relationship is going to give you a complex, isn’t it?” she rolled her eyes at him jokingly, “First you save me in an alley, now you knock me up the first time we fall into bed. Just don’t quit your day job if you adopt a superhero identity to fight crime. You’ll need the alibi.” Eden couldn’t resist giving him a hard time, not when she was in such a bloody fabulous mood. Things had turned around so quickly since she’d walked in the emergency department, all of that stress was just…gone. “I…yeah we are, aren’t we? Unless you’d like me to remain your ‘baby mama.’” If anything was enough to declare exclusivity, this had to be it – right? They genuinely like one another, made each other happy, so why not? “That’s Jun alright,” she nodded, “she’s actually pregnant as well. I just recently found out so…there must be something in the water around here. She’s going to be thrilled to get to meet you.” Eden just knew the two of them would get along. Cal might be a bit more difficult to win over, depending on where things were with he and Shannon, but Jun was a shoe-in. “Wow,” she couldn’t help the surprise that washed over her features at that little bit of news, “so it’s going to be an awkward evening all around then. Bet you really can’t wait to attend now.” Between his ex and hers, this new pregnancy and the general weirdness of the gala, it was starting to sound more and more like something she’d want to avoid. “Thank you for being so wonderful about all of this, really,” she was serious now for a moment, the smile on her face a bit softer, her hand giving his a light squeeze, “I had hoped you would be, but I was still bloody terrified.”
