Cat honestly hadn’t been sure how well the discussion about settling in for a while would go with Wes, but she was sick and tired of hopping from hotel room to hotel room and dragging Felix along with them. The band’s tour was going amazingly well and she wasn’t going to even broach the topic until that cooled, until the dates crawled to a stop and then she’d said something. Surprisingly, he’d been more open to the idea than she’d expected and it hadn’t taken them long to find a decent-sized house to rent until that nomadic urge struck once again. Felix seemed to like the chance to get to know an area better than he usually did, to tour a few schools and see which one he might actually like to attend in the fall. And, for all the kid’s whining, Cat knew that he liked (for now) that Delphine was in the same city as well. Tonight would be the first time most of their little family was going to be able to sit down and eat together and she’d wanted to make sure that it was special. Spending most of the day in the kitchen, she’d managed to put together a pot of vatapa, Felix’s favorite, and had hidden away a batch of baklava for dessert; with the way Wes had been picking at things while she cooked, it was probably a good idea to have tucked the sweets away or risk them all being eaten before the kids arrived. The marketplace vendors here didn’t make the exact type of breads that Delphine had loved when they’d spent time in South American countries, but Cat had managed to find a thick, crusty loaf that would probably be a decent substitute.
“Stop picking!” Cat swatted at him playfully, giving his rear end a smack as she pushed him towards the door. “Go and let the kids in before Felix tries to pick the lock again.” She watched him go before turning back to put the lid back onto her casserole dish on the stove, turning down the heat and wiping her hands on a dishtowel so that she could go and greet Delphine and Felix. Everything was all set for dinner, they’d just have to dish it up once they were all ready to sit down for a bit. By the time she joined the other two, Felix was nowhere in sight, but the sound of running water from the bathroom down the hall was a quiet reassurance that he wasn't already wreaking havoc on the place. "There she is," Cat grinned, moving forward to steal their daughter from Wes for a moment so that she could pull her into a hug, "Olá linda. I'm glad you could make it. And thank you for watching your brother - dad and I needed a break." Sometimes the two of them just needed a day free of any sort of commitments to the band or their children, a few hours to just be together and unwind. Having Delphine around meant that, not only did they get to see her for more than just quick visit, but that they also had a built in baby-sitter. "Dinner is ready whenever all of you are," she released Delphine and stepped back with a smile, "I take it Felix is trying to scrub all the germs off?" Which meant Wes had to have sent him, the boy never listened to anyone near as well as he did his father.
