Andrew liked to get to choir early. Partly it was just what he was used to - turning up with his mum and setting out chairs and lyrics while she made sure everything at the piano was as it should be. The teacher at Hogwarts didn't need his help, but the choir room was one place Andrew could sing without anyone telling him to shut up while they were working. It had been an adjustment and a half, trying to stop himself singing whatever was going through his head. He still hadn't completely got it down.
After saying goodbye to Professor McGonagall, Andrew raced to the choir room from Transfiguration, closing the door behind him once inside. He was feeling particularly homesick today, he'd received a letter from his mum (via his dad) asking him not to send owls anymore. She didn't say why, just said that if he really needed to get in touch, he should owl his father who would forward the message. It was a blow for Andrew, who'd been expecting his mum to be able to hand out letters to his friends. As he sat down at the piano, his fingers settled naturally on the keys and he began to pick out the slow, sad tune of Mill of Tifty. A few times around the chorus and he began to play the verse, matching the song to the tune. "At Mill o' Tifty there lived a man, in the neighborhood o' Fyvie."
