After a couple of weeks here, Katie was still sort of getting her bearings. Being stuck far from home without any of her friends, anyone she actually knew was a bit lonely, even if she’d done her best to put herself out there and talk to the others who were stuck here with her. At least she wasn’t completely alone.
It was late when she found herself at one of the town bars. Sleep wasn’t something that had come easily the last several years since the war and Katie had always been a bit of a night owl anyway. She ordered a beer for herself, glad the strawberry thing had worn off by now, at least and turned to see someone she’d seen around sitting alone.
“Want some company?” she asked him as she approached.
