Though she didn't quite smile, Morrie did let out a soft huff of amusement at Krishna's comment about making children cry. Her tone was dry as she drawled, "Well, I happen to know better. You're all bark and no bite, my friend."
Morrie took his claim that it was an experiment in stride, though she knew it was not true because she knew Krishna. He was too deliberate, to thorough. He wouldn't simply try something without a plan and then give the outcome away as a gift. No, she was quite certain he had worked to make this specifically for her, knowing she enjoyed the scent and taste of licorice, and she was especially appreciative that he tried to make it seem like it wasn't a big deal. She had thanked him, certainly, but she wasn't comfortable being fussed over.
They got to their feet and began to move down the hill, as the rest of the gathered moon watchers began to disperse. The minor stiffness that came from being still for too long paired with a sudden jolt of surprise at the sight of her brother caused her to stumble slightly. Not much, not enough to fall, but enough that she came to lean heavily and suddenly enough on her cane that Krishna was sure to notice. Still, her eyes were fixed on the sight across the field and she couldn't tear them away.
Lachlan hugging someone -- Fiona Dunn, it looked like. It was obviously a warm embrace, she could see that even from a distance, and her chest clenched with the memory of the coldness between them when they had reunited, and which still lingered. She clenched her jaw shut tight and clenched her hand on her cane for a moment before trying to continue as though she had not felt the ache of distance at the sight, as though it hadn't brought all of the pains of the day back down upon her shoulders that her time with Krishna that evening had started to lift. She hoped that Krishna would allow her to indulge that illusion.
"You know that celebrating is not particularly my style. I will just go home to Hiraeth," she said in a low voice. She had been considering stopping at Antoine's on the way, perhaps to have a drink with Ciara if she wasn't in session, but now she just felt like being alone again.
