Calvin lowered his eyes, though he didn't close them. Yes, protecting him, and by extension the Aurellian staff, would certainly prove dangerous. It might make it harder. It was... a cruelty of the world, that something that should have been so basic as standing up for another person's decency had been made into something with a warning label. Something with consequences.
