And it's a hard, and it's a hard, it's a hard, and it's a hard And it's a hard rain's a-gonna fall Who: Nadine and Rahne What: Nightmares, lack of sleep and mutual dislike of certain neighbors Where: Red Thrush Inn When: Tuesday Night
Every night since Nadine had moved into Thrush had been a struggle. She couldn't think of one night in the past two months or so that she hadn't been woken unceremoniously by some noise or another. These weren't normal city noises she could get used to. These were loud, random, obtrusive noises that shook her from her sleep and felt targeted directly at her.
It was no surprised then that she was woken again on Tuesday night, after a long, fruitless exchange with her next door neighbor about keeping his late night music rehearsals and wild fornicating to a minimum. It wasn't just her who had a problem with it, she was sure. His bed might butt up against her wall, but she couldn't be the only one who heard him making noise all through the night. This noise though, the one that woke her, was not the normal ruckus she'd become accustomed to.
No, this was different, she realized when she sat up in bed. It wasn't even coming from the wall behind her. She tipped her head to one side, trying to pick up the direction of the sound. Huh. Nadine slipped out of her bed and pulled on a dressing gown, following the sound into the hallway and to the door of yet another neighbor. Whatever it was it sounded... Distressing. She frowned, and lifted her fist to the door, knocking tentatively at first, but then firmly. "Everything alright in there?"
