"The dirt, dust, and leaves - including the one stuck in your hair," Of which there was no such thing, but hey, "suggests otherwise," Kell shot back without missing a beat, grinning, before going cross-eyed at the button for a second. He snatched it in the next second with his free hand, eyeing it over curiously, eyes actually sharp for the first time in the conversation. He had a small collection of chipped, bent, half-cracked and faded buttons, in one of the drawers in his room - but this one was shinier and nicer looking than anything currently there. It'd stick out nicely.
It took him a moment to actually catch the comment about the button, and he huffed at her, "I am not pretty." He grumbled half-halfheartedly, tucking the button away in a pocket. "...You know, I think I'm okay with not understanding it." He shrugged, flipping his hand.
He quirked an eyebrow at her sudden tone-switch, only to offer a slow smile for a moment before glancing down at himself, "Dunno. I'd think me still being here would suggest that I did indeed outrun you." He said, tone a bored drawl, eyes bright even as he tried to look put-upon, not rising to her challenge for a race.
