That was a bad idea on his part. Briar had talked circles around solicitors since she was big enough to sneak into places she wasn't supposed to be. She held up a dirty hand to stop him and then count off, "Actually! Both Aurelle and Clovennia have laws that treat crimes committed out of need for survival differently, so it could be labeled differently and if you are the only witness, isn't your judgement the most important?"
It was a shame he didn't want to fight though, wrestle, spar, whatever the proper term would be. He was a quick thinker. Maybe another time, she had a way of wearing people down.
(Or at least annoying them until they gave in.)
She laughed at him again, though not unkindly, "Yeah, I do the same. could you just, no. No I cannot. I have to do things. Somewhere." It was terrible at the tavern! Patrons grabbed her as well as waitresses, or if someone was running late, just anything really. At this point, she was past the point where her feet hurt terribly at the end of every night but still. When she was done then she was done
It was easy to tell that he wasn't really offended, at the very least he was just annoyed with the suggestion. But trash rat was pretty hilarious, they called another animal something similar in Clovennia but it fit possums as well. The arm closest to him extended to poke his middle, "You're right, looking at you now, you're far too thin to waddle. Do you eat?" That was an exaggeration, especially since he was built similar to her, but she wanted to his annoyed face again.
