Ava took in an alarmed, horrified, baffled breath in through her nose, and looked at Viola rather like she'd just implied that Ava had enjoyed the company of a rude, uncouth, lying scoundrel.
"You don't mean--!" But there was only one Mr. Fox that she knew of, and all of that trouble with Dr. Cress had nearly made her forget all about that horrid experience, until now. "Definitely not!" As was customary whenever she was even mildly teased, color crept up her face. "I don't think I've ever met someone as-- as-- unapologetically horrid in my life!" Realizing she'd just possibly overstepped several boundaries with her little unplanned outburst, Ava cleared her throat and gathered her composure back.
