Luke looked over his shoulder then, his eyes bright, assessing her through the dark. He let the heavy implication of her question hang in the air between them for a beat before he said, "No. My brother's here with me."
He could've told her any number of things then. That he wasn't a bedmate anymore, for one. That he'd never put himself in a room alone with her ever again for another. But instead, he just pushed the door to the Thrush open and said, "Good night, Miss Adler."
