Oh no, not me, we never lost control
Who: Courtenay Auster & Calvin Llewellyn
What: Questions, answers, lies
When: Monday morning, July 4th
Where: Glynn town jail
He'd expected more resistance from the Marshal's staff. In anticipation, Courtenay Auster had dressed the part of an official visitor. He wasn't "Court the friendly, affable part-time writer/part-time rake" today. Instead, he was Major Auster in full form. The dark blue of his formal dress jacket gleamed with the medals he'd earned, splashed with an assortment of color from various ribbons demarking regimental honors or campaign participation.
His highly polished, near-knee high black riding boots had clacked on the cobblestones with every step from the Manor's automobile. His bright red trousers, for all their dash, still felt slightly ridiculous, especially after half a generation wearing subdued khaki. But the uniform had been designed to awe watchers on a parade ground and he'd felt it would do just as good a job in a quiet country town.
Doffing his peaked kepi, he stepped inside the small building and immediately gained the attention of the small staff. Court's request to speak to the "accused terrorist Llewellyn" was accompanied by a bit of a theatrical flourish, as he deftly unbuckled the belt strap for his saber and handed the heavy weapon off to the surprised deputy.
Then it was Court's turn to be surprised, though he hid it considerably well. They didn't fight him much. It only took a modicum of posturing to gain access to the cells and assurances of reasonable privacy.
It was hard to remember to keep his limp going with this persona brought to the fore, but he managed. Moving down the short hallway, he stepped up to the bars housing the jails only occupant. Court cleared his throat not wanting to unduly surprise the man if he hadn't heard him approach. "Danu Llewellyn, we need to talk."
