Calvin just looked at him for a string of long moments. There was really nothing he could do about Beau's involvement now that Allwyn had already gotten Beau involved, was there? And really, it was further proof that Allwyn trusted Calvin, at least to some extent, that he was telling him at all, given the complicated history between the ex-butler and his ex-master. And it wasn't as if Calvin could've done anything about this anyway, after tomorrow. The success of his plan was about to be entirely out of his hands, and he would need to put his faith in men he didn't entirely trust.
If that wasn't a lesson from the Gods, he didn't know what was.
