"Yes," Linden replied, as if they were talking about something theoretical and not a circumstance literally being endured at the very moment. "I was contacted due to my specialities and research, and your case was especially interesting to me. A shame they weren't able to solve it on the front. Had you been in Belailles, you'd be right as rain." He spared the man beside him a brief smile. "Then again, had you been in Belailles I doubt there would've been an injury at all."
He settled back into his seat, relaxed to the extent his ingrained posture and suit would allow. He took up the space around him like a man who knew it belonged to him; not eager to claim it, just comfortable with being in it. No fear, no concern.
"So, how has your convalescence been? Has the young Lord Rosier been a good host?"
