Wanting to avoid being in the way, Court entered the room last and took care to leave a wide berth around the doctors. Bellamy was still awake, he saw, and he gave the Marshal a professional nod, before busying himself rolling up his own sleeves. His tie immediately followed, removed and placed in his pocket, before Court turned up the high reversible collar and buttoned it just under his chin.
The initial preparation done, Court continued to mime the actions he’d seen his squadron’s medics and dozens of Army doctors do before. He cranked a nearby faucet on as hot as he could and began washing his hands, ignoring the near scalding temperatures. Scrubbing done, he had to fight the instinct to grab a towel, but he knew from common practice, if not specifically why, to shake his hands off instead.
