Cece & Allen | At the Clinic
Cece was well satisfied with all the little errands she'd run this morning, and was even more satisfied with the bouquet that the Aurellian florist produced. She'd been a little suspicious about the quality of an Aurellian's work, especially in such a small town, but the end result was lovely. She had her driver carry the enormous bouquet and its accompanying broad-based vase, while she carried the little handkerchief-basket of pictures with one hand and the book under her arm.
She gave a cheerful smile to the nurse on duty and looked curiously around the clinic as she entered it, observing that it was (as she should have guessed!) much smaller than she had imagined. Maura was right -- it was certainly no Castyll. She'd been to towns this small before, but they were rarely so... quaint. So different. Especially in medical facilities. The foyer was clean (only proper for an establishment that dealt with health) and the beds were brilliant white and, as Mr. Bellamy had said, bright and tidy; far less dingy than Cece had imagined.
"Hello, Mr. Bellamy," Cece said, smiling at him as she approached the bed, speaking to him as if they were old friends, rather than relative strangers who'd just met the night before at a Carnivale party. In accordance with tradition, Cece didn't extend her hand for Bellamy to shake, since even if he was laid up for a broken leg, he was still laid up. Instead, she offered a friendly nod and extended the book to him first, and then used her free hand to wave at the driver. "If you could just put them here, please," she said, indicating a spot on a little table near Mr. Bellamy's bedside, on which the flowers (barely) fit.
"You said that it was bright and tidy," she said to Mr. Bellamy as the driver moved to do as he was bid, "but there's nothing fresh flowers can't brighten a little more." She extended the handkerchief full of pictures. "I ran into your secretary at the office and she made this ingenious little bundle for some of your pictures. Everyone at the office wishes you well."
