Maura had not been prepared for the sheer number of incidents that would occur over the course of Carnivale. Public drunkenness, petty vandalism, assaults. She should have expected it, but given how Bellamy was laid up and half of the deputies had begged off on account of illness (read: hangovers), much of the administrative burden had fallen to her.
She wore a breezy blue day dress with the sleeves rolled up to her elbows and the top button undone to account for the warmth of the day. It was simple but done after the Clovennian style, with subtle white stripes as the only pattern. Maura looked up with a slightly harried expression when the door opened, relaxing to find that it was not yet another person being hauled in for questioning. She didn't recognize the woman, though, which made her immediately interesting.
"Oh, hiya." She said, setting her pen down, "Miss Ces- Cecily?" She repeated, having never heard the name before and finding it difficult to square. "That's a pretty name, like a snake's hiss." She said brightly, standing from her chair. "Oh, you're visiting the Marshal? That's great, I'm sure Bell could use the company. You need into his office? Who are you, exactly?" She asked, rapid and friendly as she moved around her desk.
