Sy and Luke, Post-Bailout
Simon coughed, half laugh, half choke on the entirely too accurate observation Luke had given of the evening.
"I dunno. I mean, it looked nice. People having fun. I... I shouldn't have him 'em, though. I shouldn't have even gone. I should've stayed with Cal, like he said," and his voice shook and he dropped his cigarette to the ground.
Simon jerked to a stop and muttered a curse under his breath and bent over to pick it up, looking at it between his fingers as it spat out the last bit of smoke before going it.
"Lemme start over," he said slowly, and looked directly at Luke. "The party was awful, this night is awful, and the sooner it's over the better."
