Sy and Luke, Post-Bailout
"And I guess they don't trust me, either," Luke said sadly. He always felt like such an idiot in moment like this. Like Simon was still infinitely wiser and more competent than he was, despite having only lived on the earth a few years longer. It made him feel as if he'd never catch up.
Luke wanted to fling an arm around his brother as they walked, but he knew from the energy coming off of him that now was not the time. It was often like this between the two of them -- Luke wanted to draw closer for comfort and Simon wanting to draw away. But Simon had held him when it counted, like he always did, and that was enough. He'd make it be enough. "Thanks," he said. "For getting me through my... whatever that was in there. Dunno what came over me. Just got... real scared real fast."
