It was a good, tactful response. More honest than she would have been in her position, but just about everything was more honest than Briar would be in her any position. It was a response that she could respect.
Her head tilted in acknowledgement for the unpleasantness that all of the Bound felt to one unfortunate degree or another. The answer to Fiona's question tumbled out before she could think it through properly, "I am nothing more or less than what the Gods have made of me." It was wistful, and a sincere lie. Briar was not a convert to the Faith. She saw it's merits now, had even gone to temple and tried praying in her room, tempted but recoiling at the binding of onself to another a way of life so ardently.
Nor did it answer her question, at least not directly, and yet it did. A sincere lie, and Briar felt like her mouth betrayed her a bit.
