The Inn wasn't far, and they were no feverish teenagers with a need to rush before the fire died so Briar stepped leisurely but did not take another sip from the bottle(though she was tempted). Xavier didn't see her as the dirty thief, the unwanted daughter, or the rich girl trying to prove her street meddle. He saw as a pretty Aurellian bartender, and that was a lie to; but at least it was her lie. That made all the difference.
Besides all that nonsense, he smelled nice. Briar's head tilted to the side to press against arm with a pleased smile.
"I am not most Aurellians," The grin on her face and spark in her eyes belied a story there but she didn't clarify, "That's a pretty neat trick you did back there, do you two team up often for this sort of thing?" Some people would be offended at their Gifts being called tricks, it could be an insult, but she said it with affection in her voice.
