The expression on her face insinuated that she did not, in fact, believe it, but she couldn't have missed the meaningful look he gave to the small tuft of flower resting in her palm. She sighed and resisted the urge to roll her eyes; the sentiment of his actions had been sweet, so it was the least she could do not to start an argument about 'deserving special treatment', no matter how many things she had to say on the matter.
She lifted her head to gaze out across the property of the Manor, and she actually hesitated. She really did need to get back. But moving now felt... final. "I probably should," she mumbled. It was surprising that she didn't necessarily want to, given what lay on the other side of tomorrow.
Her fingers closed in a protective cage around the Mimosa flower, and she lifted her eyes to meet his. There were a lot of things she couldn't bring herself to say, mostly on account of not knowing how to put them into words, but also because she wasn't even exactly sure what they all meant. So she adjusted her shoes to dangle from her pinky and wordlessly looped her free hand into the crook of his elbow, pulling him gently to fall into step with her as she started back.
