Morrie & Lachlan
When he asked if she was particularly thirsty, Morrie actually let out a soft chuckle. So he did remember that night. Morrigan shrugged a shoulder casually, as if she and Lachlan laughed over nostalgic memories all the time, because if she didn't act like it was nothing, she might end up acting as if it was something. She wasn't ready to acknowledge that, because this was an anomaly. This was just... a good moment, and if she drew too much attention to it, it might crumble.
"Two meat pies and two spring ales," Morrigan requested of the nearby vendors. She acknowledged her brother's earlier comment by adding, "At least, to start. If we are still thirsty once we finish, we can always order another round."
The vendors, of course, wished them a happy Turning using the traditional sentiments of the faith as Lachlan moved to pay for their items, but she just nodded without returning the words of blessing. Morrie thought about insisting she pay since it was his birthday, but ultimately she didn't try to stop him. Part of her still felt that Lachlan owed her, and though this small moment did little to address the painful history between them, it was still what stilled her from reaching for her own coin purse.
Instead, she accepted her share of the food and began looking around for a place to sit. Again, the novelty of freedom struck her. She could carry both her own drink and her meat pie, one in each hand. The simple pleasure of that independent action, however minor, made her stand up a little straighter until she reached a place they could sit together. The ease with which she could support her weight as she bent to that chair was not missed either. The pain in her hip and thigh was still there, of course, as it always was, but it wasn't as excruciating or debilitating as it generally was when the Faidoux required her to overuse her leg and rely on her cane.
Still, she stretched her leg out before her so as not to over-tax herself, and once he joined her, she commented in a low, even, almost hesitant voice, "It is a beautiful Turning. The garlands are especially vibrant this year."
