Reagan & Emmy
When Reagan revealed three beautiful dresses, Emmy's eyes widened dramatically. When Reagan went on to say that they were Reagan's own designs and she wanted Emmy to actually wear one, Emmy actually gasped. She'd hardly even touched a dress that nice, except maybe when she'd hugged a bedmate at work.
"Oh, Reagan! They're so beautiful! You... you want me to wear one of those? But -- but what if I wrecked it?" Emlyn asked, trying to quickly catch hold of her excitement before she got carried away.
She knew she got carried away a lot, but she had to remind herself that there were more important things than beautiful clothes even as she looked at those dresses with so deeply adoring eyes. If she wore one and ripped it or stained it, how could she possibly ever pay for it? She'd overheard her parents talking the other night. Her mother had practically been in tears as she'd admitted to her father just how much Emlyn's money from Antoine's helped the family. Maybe they felt guilty accepting it, but Emmy felt proud that she was able to help. Her parents worked from sun up to sun down, so Emmy could do the same, and she couldn't risk having to use some of her pay on a dress instead of on her family.
