Simon & Viola | Early Afternoon | Town Circle
Simon had done some casual investigation into the mysterious Doctor Rosier since Calvin brought up the possibility that the woman might be a buyer for his cigarettes - after all, with the flow of his goods interrupted, he needed to make whatever money he could and instead of relying on the slow trickle of his usual customers, he needed to actually start putting some money into his savings if he wanted to hold onto the hope of keeping his shabby apartment.
He imagined scenarios where he would find a way to innocently reach her on the journals, or maybe take an odd job at her house (if he could get Morrie to give him an in, maybe) - it was a complex gig, but a rich buyer meant a possible upcharge from his already low prices, along with a regular customer. He practiced the conversation in his head; baiting the line, reeling it in, making the pitch.
He was confident in the theater of his mind, but when he caught what looked to be like Viola Rosier enjoying her time at the festival, Simon did a quick recalculation on what his approach could be - she was clearly trying to enjoy the local charm, and if there was one good thing about being stuck back home, it was being local.
He dipped through the crowd after her, biding his time, then - just as the crowd dipped in response to a gaggle of children thundering through with their flowers falling out of their pockets, Simon stuck his foot out to trip someone walking alongside her just so that he could immediately swoop in and grab the poor man's arm and yank him back before he could actually do her any harm.
"Ay, careful there," Simon said genially to the startled gentleman who was still in the midst of parsing exactly what had just happened, but the Fox very quickly turned his attention towards Viola, the actual focus of his efforts, grinning: "You alright, miss? It can be a little wild after everyone's had a bit to drink."
