A Quiet Afternoon Who: Alis and OPEN What: Alis is working but that doesn't mean people can't stop by. Where: The blacksmith's shop When: Some time in the afternoon Rating: TBD
It's been quiet around the smithy lately, which had, until today, been just fine with Alis. Everything had been going fairly smoothly, really. Aside from one of the apprentices getting sick and not being able to work for some time now, almost a month in fact, there hadn't been a single issue to speak of. Certainly whispers had made their way to the forge from around the city. That's fairly typical, after all. Gossip always gets around, spoken loud and clear or hissed behind hands and under breath. Now even that seemed to be petering out and leaving...nothing.
It's that silence that's suddenly beginning to wear on Alis's nerves. It's quiet, so very quiet, and she knows perhaps better than most the fact that quiet doesn't always mean calm. She's sent her working apprentice home early today without much complaint. Comments had already been made earlier about feeling a bit more tired than usual and it wasn't as if they had a great deal to do. So, alone save for her constant companions of metal and fire, Alis wipes soot onto her apron and takes a seat at a tool-scattered table to spend her time alone scrawling charcoal across paper, playing with new ideas for projects she may or may not ever attempt to forge.
