"I don't know about my charms," Madoc said with no small amount of humor in his voice as he followed her inside. "But my coin will do in a pinch." He loved the smell of a fine cobbler shop, and it often made him wonder if he should retire and try his hand at more honest endeavors. And then he would remember himself, remember Emrys, and grin at the foolish thought.
He wasn't grinning now, though, not with the shop far busier than he'd hoped this early in the morning. "Well, if there's a bright side, at least the crowd attests to this cobbler's skill," Madoc ventured. His grin was quick to return when his new acquaintance introduced herself. "Ah, a lovely name for a lovely lady. A pleasure to meet you, Morelana. I'm called Madoc, and it's kind of you to offer aid. My companion and I are still getting our bearings."
