Tegwaret could barely keep any form of eye contact as Leland tried to reassure him. He had no notion of how childish he had become in this brief moment. The city was burdening upon them, and the impending anxiety just seemed to revert him to this state of youth.
"You promise you won't leave the city without getting me? I mean, I can post myself at the gate, I can hide and I won't roam. But I don't want you to go anywhere without me. You..." His eyes begged softly to Leland. "You promise? Cause..." In his pleas, Tegwaret became more animated, waving his arms around weakly to indicate the forest enveloping them. "This...there really isn't anything for me to do outside of this. And if I can protect you, then I won't lose you again. And..." He focused on Leland's face. "Then you'll never be alone."
